Original broadcast date: March 3, 2020

Organizations with a global presence or simply doing business with customers in multiple legal jurisdictions have some challenging decisions to make with regard to how best to comply with multiple privacy law requirements. Since privacy laws vary across state and national political boundaries, catering to compliance obligations state by state and country by country may have it’s legal and operational advantages, but increasingly, organizations are considering the adoption of a single global strategy.

In addition to legal considerations, individuals in certain geographies (currently California, Canada and the European Union for example) are entitled to access and deletion of the personal information held about them by companies, and decisions need to be made whether to honor those rights for just the individuals within those geographies or extend them to all customers they do business with.

Join our panel of deeply experienced external counsel attorneys who have advised many clients on these issues, and hear about the pros and cons of each approach. What trends are emerging as global privacy laws proliferate, and what can you do to evaluate your best options as you seek to both comply with the laws while best serving your constituents? We’ll address this question and more, and ample time will be allotted for your questions, as well.
