Prospects for US Federal Privacy Legislation in 2021

The 116th Congress of the United States witnessed sustained interest from policymakers and stakeholders to enact a comprehensive federal privacy law. However, despite considerable bipartisan efforts and the introduction of over a dozen bills, no federal privacy legislation reached the finish line. This panel will explore opportunities and challenges facing the new administration and the 117th Congress for progress in the federal protection of consumer data privacy.
