Topic:
A Duty to Protect
There has been a quantum leap in the ability to collect and analyze personal, private and confidential information about individuals in our society. In an era of a data industrial complex, the ability to collect private confidential information by governments, health authorities, corporations, survey companies and social media platforms requires a duty to protect the information collected. This necessitates strong international, national laws and provincial legislation which include the legislative imperative that the protection of any information gathered is a function of any organization with the ability to accumulate the private confidential information of citizens.
