Insider Threats: Navigating Security and Privacy

Significant attention from the media and security experts on privacy and security threats external to the organization has too often had the inadvertent effect of  downplaying a serious internal threat vector: employees. “Insiders” can and frequently do adversely impact organisations and their customers by compromising the personal and sensitive data they have been entrusted with.

The failure of organisations to adequately protect data lost through malicious or inadvertent employee action is evidenced by a proliferation of recent legal cases as well as fines issued by privacy authorities worldwide. These regulatory actions should provide fair warning about the liability risks inherent in failing to implement reasonable measures to detect and prevent: data breaches, exfiltration, theft of intellectual property, fraud and sabotage of critical systems by insiders.

Join us for this preview of a session that will be presented live at this year’s Data Protection Congress 2015 to hear about actionable measures your organization can take to ward off the dangers existing from insider threats.

What you’ll take away:

•    Knowledge of current, common insider threats and the security risks they pose.
•    Improved awareness of the legal and privacy risks of failing to implement a programme to reasonably mitigate insider threats.
•    Steps for implementing an insider threat programme to comply with existing privacy laws.
