Topic:

Implications of the New Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) for EU Companies

The Indian government recently enacted a new landmark privacy piece of legislation, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA), that sets out obligations on organizations when using personal data. This new privacy law is India's equivalent to the GDPR and will have potentially far reaching impacts for organizations which collect and process personal data. During this meeting, the following topics will be covered: (1) an overview of the DPDPA, (2) key business and operational implications, (3) insights on practical implications and impact areas, (4) comparison between GDPR and DPDPA and (5) insights on the way forward for clients operating in India. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions. The meeting will be relevant for privacy, cyber security, legal and compliance leads of organizations who transfer data in and out of India (now or in the future), operate or use data processors or vendors in India.
