Free IAPP Web Conference

Brought to you by Securiti

Broadcast Date: 13 May 2025

Time: 08:00–09:00 PST, 11:00–12:00 EST, 17:00–18:00 CET

While California led the way with California Consumer Privacy Act, 19 U.S. states have a comprehensive privacy law, each with varying requirements — and more are on the way. The differences in these laws impose complexities for companies conducting business in multiple states.

The key questions are whether there are common denominators from a compliance perspective and which of the states offers the strictest approach companies can follow. What is the best solution for companies to ensure compliance? Should they adopt different approaches for each state or implement a unified approach by adhering to common compliance obligations?

This webinar will explore these questions, and help address:

  • What are the varying opt-in and opt-out requirements?
  • Which of the U.S. states mandates the detection and honoring of preference signals and universal opt-out mechanisms?
  • What are the requirements on data protection impact assessments and how similar or different are these across states?
  • What are cookie banner requirements under state privacy laws in light of opt-in and opt-out requirements? Can we use one cookie banner for compliance with all state privacy laws?
  • How are states addressing AI and automated decision-making?
